Designing Between Two Intelligences

Or: The Navigator Doesn't Get Out of the Car
AI is becoming astonishingly good at many of the activities that once defined UX practice. It can generate designs, synthesize research, write content, build prototypes, identify patterns, and increasingly make recommendations on our behalf.
Faced with this reality, many practitioners are asking the wrong question: What tasks will AI replace? The more important question is: What responsibilities can we never give away?
In this talk, Jason explores the emerging role of UX professionals as strategic navigators… people responsible not for producing every artifact, but for setting direction, exercising judgment, understanding context, and making accountable decisions when the stakes are high.
Drawing on lessons from product design, research, and leadership, Jason introduces a practical framework for deciding what can be delegated to AI, what should remain human-led, and why speed alone is no longer a competitive advantage. In a world where AI can help us move faster than ever, the real challenge is making sure we're moving in the right direction - and getting there safely.
