Build the Prototyping Environment, Not the Screens
Everyone's asking: "When will designers work in code?" and "When will Figma get good AI?" Both questions miss what's actually happening.
While the design community debates, everyone else is already prototyping. Sales reps show up with AI-generated prototypes before lunch. CEOs visualize ideas in ten minutes. The result? Submit buttons everywhere. Nobody thinks user-first.
The instinct is to control it. Route everything through the design team. That creates bottlenecks and resentment. There's a better answer: Design builds the environment. Not the screens, the system that makes everyone's prototypes better.
In this talk, Jens will show a three-layer approach he built and uses with clients: an AI agent that challenges every idea before a pixel is placed, a fast vibe-prototyping layer for validation, and a consistency layer that rebuilds validated flows with real design tokens and brand language. The design team doesn't build every screen anymore. They build the knowledge that lives inside the agents.
