From Overload to Clarity: Building TimeBuddy for Autistic Children

UX Design Awards winner 2025

In this talk, Daiana presents the design framework behind TimeBuddy, a visual scheduling app developed to support children with autism in managing daily routines. She will show how design decisions reduce cognitive overload, strengthen emotional regulation, and
transform routines into clear and predictable steps.

TimeBuddy adapts its interface and interactions to different abilities and sensory preferences while aiming to create a joyful experience for children.

TimeBuddy is a personalised visual schedule that helps children with Autism feel secure and in control of their day.

With a simple and calming interface, it adapts to each child’s unique way of understanding the world, offering visuals, sounds, or text for gentle and step-by-step guidance.

Designed alongside therapists and shaped by real experiences with children, TimeBuddy turns daily routines into moments of confidence, joy, and independence, reducing stress for both kids and caregivers.

The TimeBuddy project was awarded a UX Design Award in 2025.
