About the Workshop

Half day workshop • Wednesday 18 October 2023

Workshops require a separate ticket from the conference. You're welcome to join a workshop without attending the conference.

Course Overview

Onboarding is not just a single event in the user experience. It is a journey that links together many events, over time, to acclimate people to a new product or service. A well designed user onboarding experience will guide new users toward retention and engagement as they interact with a product, at their own pace. This workshop will give attendees a process for designing progressive onboarding journeys, so they can engage their own teams in better onboarding design.

Who is it for?

This workshop suits designers, product managers, content designers, and more, no matter what stage their product’s onboarding experience is in.

What you'll learn

Through a mix of presentation and hands-on activities, you will learn how to:

  • Apply guided interaction as an onboarding strategy
  • Define the start and end points of onboarding with your team
  • Map the actions that bridge people between those start and end points
  • Apply guidance to an individual action so that it links to other actions in the journey

What you need to bring

Have your laptop handy is always great if you want to look up any resources, but not required.

What's included

You’ll participate in a half-day workshop with great exposure to the workshop trainer in an intimate setting. We will provide refreshments to keep you energized, all included in the workshop fee. Workshop materials like pencils, markers and paper will be ready for you.
