Bio
Mariana Santos is a visual storyteller made in Portugal. She went from communication designer in France to motion designer at Universal Music Berlin, then dived into digital native with a Master in Digital Media in Stockholm. For the last three years she has been the motion and interactive designer at the guardian interactive team, building stories with data finding new and engaging ways of visualizating news that could otherwise be boring to read through. During 2013/14 she is a International Center for Journalist Knight Fellow, where her project goes from creating new strengths in visual storytelling in Latin American newsrooms and to bring more woman into tech news rooms, improving the work flow with a greater feminine presence..
Her moto is love it or leave it, and she believes in the power of working in team. Disruption and humor are the keys for her communications, as she thinks people are always expecting to be surprised. She's currently based in Costa Rica working at La Nacion investigative team.
