How To Be A Good Guide: Crafting Navigation Experiences

Navigation is a make or break aspect of the user experience of any system. It’s a map and directions, the vehicle that takes users where they want to go. Great navigation patterns are a shortcut for good usability, if they are as simple and predictable as possible. As designers and developers, it is our responsibility to design a clear and consistent navigation that supports the user on their journey. How can we create a navigation that is as unintrusive as possible, yet adds the overall experience of a product?

In this talk, Nick will teach about:
  • - The principles of good navigation
  • - Dangerous navigation patterns
  • - Favorite classics and innovative patterns for web, mobile and wearables platforms
  • - Navigation for augmented and virtual reality
  • - How to be ready for future platforms yet to come
